We are looking forward to celebrating with everyone! Here is some information to help plan your trip. We are encouraging everyone to walk from the reception site at The Birches http://www.thebirchesbnb.com/ to the ceremony and back. It is about half a mile one way on a paved road. There will be cars shuttling those that can't walk that distance - or simply don't want to. Please plan accordingly - aka stilettos might not be the best choice for footwear.
Getting to Southwest Harbor :
Flying into Bar Harbor (BHB) - Cape Air flies into Bar Harbor daily from Boston and White Plains. It is the most convenient airport and a short drive to Mount Desert Island - http://bhbairport.com/
Flying into Bangor (BGR) - Most major airlines fly into Bangor and the frequency of flights (and cost) are easier to plan your trip around. Bangor is about an hours drive to the island.
Flying into Boston (BOS), Portland (PWM), and Manchester (MHT) are also options. The drive up the coast is beautiful and if you have time... it can be really fun.
For a car free travel guide - http://www.exploreacadia.com/guide.htm
Acadia National Park is easily accessed from anywhere on Mount Desert Island. The activities are too many to count. We hope you get out and explore the park, bike (or walk) the carriage roads, summit mountains, cruise Ocean Drive, rent kayaks... The Island Explorer is a free bus service connecting all points on Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park. http://www.exploreacadia.com
Bike rentals are available at Southwest Cycle on Main Street in Southwest Harbor. Ask for Bicycle Bob and he will hook you up. http://www.southwestcycle.com/
For coffee, breakfast, lunch, dinner and happy hour check out Sips in Southwest Harbor. Located on Clarks Point Road just off of Main Street. http://www.sipsmdi.com/
Little Notch Bakery on Main Street is also a good place to stock up on goodies for the day. http://littlenotch.wix.com/my-cafe#!menus/c17u
